Policing update

Ruislip Police are now dispensing "Smart water" kits to local residents, currently prioritising local known burglary hotspots. These kits provide a unique forensic code that enables the police to identify where recovered property came from following the burglary/theft of such items. Obviously publicising that your property is covered by "Smart water" acts as a deterrent to would be burglars/theives and so helps prevent crimes in any event. Safer Neighbourhood meetings have been held this month for Eastcote and East Ruislip and West Ruislip wards - crime figures were discussed and priorities for actions identified targetting burglaries, motor vehicle crime (theft of and from vehicles) and anti-social behaviour. In relation to crime prevention the police are advising residents that windows should be secured, wherever possible, particularly as in the hot weather forgetting open windows provides opportunities for crime. As for pvc doors - do not rely on "locking" only by using the door handle - you should always use your key to securely lock the door!
