South Ruislip Household Waste and Recycling Centre to Close

At the end of the May the facility in Victoria Road, South Ruislip, will close, meaning that residents with household waste to dispose of will only have Hillingdon Council's site in New Year's Green Lane, Harefield to use free of charge by producing a Hillingdon First card or proof of address.

The Hillingdon Council has been in dispute with the West London Waste Authority for some time over ever increasing fees and the financial management of the Victoria Road facility, and says it will try to find its own, alternative site.

WLWA website contains a report into the provision of household waste and recycling services at Victoria Road, and the reasons for closure, including that agreement on costs could not be reached with Hillingdon Council. That report can be found here.

Waste and recycling centres run by WLWA are paid for by the authority in whose area they are located, and anyone can use them irrespective of where they live, free of charge.  The Harefield site, on the other hand, charges non-Hillingdon residents to tip waste there.
