Over recent years a number of the existing detached houses in this road have been demolished to make way for flat development completely usurping its local character. There was supposedly local planning policy that no more than 10% of the streets dwellings should become flats but this percentage has been exceeded largely where proposed developments have gone to appeal and it has been ruled that the 10% rule is purely for guidance and not official local planning policy. Given the strong feelings that this seemingly arbitrary decision making has caused the local authority are to consider making the 10% rule an integral part of The Hillingdon Development Plan so that it becomes policy and not just guidance.
