Old buses are coming to Ruislip this Sunday – ride free to Ickenham, Uxbridge, Harefield and Rickmansworth

Old buses, free to ride, will be running running from Rickmansworth to Uxbridge, stopping at Harefield, Ruislip, Ickenham and Hillingdon along the way this Sunday (30 March).  The Amersham & District Motorbus Society’s “Bus Running Day” will see loads of old buses out on the roads between Amersham, Chesham, Rickmansworth and Uxbridge.

They say:

The first event of our 2025 Classic Bus Running programme will be based at Rickmansworth, taking place on Sunday 30th March. This date is fifty-three years to the day since the last GS buses saw service under the jurisdiction of London Country Bus Services on route 336A between Rickmansworth and Loudwater Village and thanks to the assistance and co-operation from Loudwater Estates, once again, GSs will be running through the private estate complex.

The buses are free to ride, and programmes are for sale at £9 in Rickmansworth on Sunday – they contain a timetable showing all of the buses going along all of the routes.

Be at Ruislip Station for the 11:52 “128 bus” and you’ll be able to get to Rickmansworth for 12:25, where there are dozens and dozens of other buses running to a variety of different destinations.  There are other buses running through Ruislip, but selling the timetables in the programme is how the society raises funds, so we’re not going to reproduce it here.

If you can’t make the 11:52 bus from Ruislip station, or if it’s full, just get yourself to Rickmansworth on the Metropolitan Line – you’ll see the Society’s stand where they’ll be selling the programme – as well as crowds of people and lots of fantastically restored old buses.

It’s a great day out!
