  • TALK: Electric cars - time to switch?

    22nd March 2025  15:00 - 16:00
Ruislip Manor Library, Linden Ave, Ruislip, Middlesex HA4 8TW, UK

The UK is moving towards a future where new petrol and diesel cars will nolonger be available to buy. Given that there are over 35 million cars on UKroads and only around 1 million of these are electric, is this realistic?

A YouGov survey last year found that drivers of petrol and diesel cars couldonly answer 2 out of 10 questions about electric vehicles correctly. Much ofwhat these drivers thought was driven by misinformation. The problem is soserious it was even mentioned in a House of Lords report.

So what is true about electric vehicles?

    Are they:

     • better for the environment?
     • cheaper to run?
     • more expensive to buy?
     • safe?
     • long-lasting?
     • suitable for all types of driver?

The truth may surprise you! Find out more in this interesting 1 hour talk andQ&A where you can hear the arguments for and against, and discover how, when and if you should make the switch to an electric vehicle.
