The Orchard – Lidl public meeting – 17 March 2025 at 19:00

We have arranged a special meeting to be held online at 19:00 on Monday 17 March 2025, where we will be able to discuss Lidl’s plans for building a new supermarket on the site of The Orchard hotel and restaurant in detail.  Lidl’s planners and specialists have agreed to join us, so they will be giving an overview presentation on their plans, before answering residents’ questions.

We also have our regular in-person Annual General Meeting at Winston Churchill Hall on Tuesday 9 April: the Lidl proposals for The Orchard are sure to come up, but the public consultation on the plans is open only until 20 March and we’ll be able to cover more topics with Lidl’s representatives in a dedicated meeting.

We will be holding the meeting online, and expect that lots of Ruislip residents will want to attend.  We need to know roughly how many people will be attending so that we can make sure we have the right type of Zoom or Google Meet account to accommodate everyone who’d like to join us.

We have agreed with the Lidl that we will send our questions to them on Friday before the meeting, so that they have time to research and prepare answers where necessary.  We’ll have a Q&A session after the main prepared questions, where we’ll be able to cover any followups or additional questions, but we’d like to be organised with as many questions ahead of time as we can.

To allow the meeting to run smoothly and to avoid duplication, we will combine questions where multiple people ask similar questions.  This worked really well at our meeting about the Barn Hotel last year.  If you’d like to submit a question,  please do so by using this form.

In case you’re not familiar with Zoom, either because you’ve never used it before, or because it has been a while since you last used it, contact Daniel O’Neill, our Chief Road Steward, on steward@ruislipresidents.org.uk.  Depending on demand, he may run a test meeting at 19:00 on Tuesday 11th March, 17:00 on Thursday 13th March and/or 18:00 on Sunday 16th March.
